Remote Control Rock Crawling

9 February 2011

In yet more breaking news from the British Indoor 4x4 Show, we’re delighted to announce that we’ve teamed up with Radio Race Car International magazine and Moto Arena at Silverstone to bring you a world-class indoor rock-crawling course the likes of which the show has never seen before.

Working with Radio Race Car International magazine’s experienced and enthusiastic team, the Moto Arena at Silverstone are working to design a brand new course for remote-control rock crawlers that you simply won’t be able to take your eyes off.  Using 200 square metres of Bingley Hall’s balcony, but with room to watch from all sides, you’ll be able to get right up to the action, and the RRCi crew will be only too happy to demonstrate for you exactly how it’s done.  If you’re up to the challenge you’ll even be able to have a go yourself!

Remote-control rock-crawling continues to become increasingly popular, with more and more clubs and competitions starting up here in the UK.  So if you’re not sure remote-control off roading is your cup of tea, why not look again at this year’s British Indoor 4x4 Show, take a hold of the controls, and don’t blame us if you leave the show armed with a state of the art big boy’s toy…

Information Overload

20 January 2011

FOR the first time ever, at this year's British Indoor 4x4 Show, we'll be running a timetable of seminars and information sessions covering a host of 4x4 and off roading subjects.  Hosted by experts from within their fields, our Information Sessions will offer visitors the chance to sit down and rest their weary legs whilst finding out more about a variety of subjects from preparing for an off road expedition, to how and where to have fun in the UK with your 4x4.  If you're keen to modify your Land Rover, we'll be holding an information session running through all you need to know to get started from soft-top conversions to suspension lifts.

We'll also be conducting a number of incredibly important seminars for all keen off roaders highlighting the importance of responsible green laning, and detailing how and why safe winching is so vital.

Keen Chaos fans will also enjoy our Chaotic Montage taking us through 8 years of your Total Chaos photos - you'd be mad to miss it!

Challenge Derby

15 December 2010

Another brand new feature will be a 4x4 Challenge Arena. Assisted by the University of Derby’s Motorsport Engineering team, the British Indoor 4x4 Show will be putting on a live action theatre like no other, right at the centre stage of the show in the main hall.

Over the course of the weekend, two teams of Motorsport Engineering degree students will be taking two days out of their studies to take part in a series of seven hour-long workshop challenges against the clock.

With equipment provided by some of the top names in off-roading equipment, the Challenge Arena will transform a pair of bog standard 4x4s – modifying the vehicles before your eyes as they kit them up for off-road life.

The vehicles in question are a Toyota Land Cruiser 80-Series, which will be modified on Saturday 19 March, and an 88-inch Land Rover Series III, whose date with the students is on Sunday 20 March.

The Land Cruiser will receive a makeover that includes a 2-inch suspension lift, snorkel, winch and heavy duty bumpers, as well as four new wheels and tyres. The team will be fitting it with a roof rack, auxiliary lights and a roof tent, too – and their challenge is to do it all in the space of four hours.

The following day’s challenge is tougher still. We’re going to present the students with an old Landy and tell them to fit it with a roll cage and convert it into a soft-top… as well as performing a complete engine transplant (and yes, we expect to hear it fire up afterwards!)

The transformations will be conducted in individual hour-long challenges, starting at 11am on both show days.  You’ll be able to watch all the action direct from the sidelines, as well as enjoying close-up action as it happens with live big-screen video footage.

In addition to the famous names supplying the equipment the teams will be fitting, TOR’s very own Tim Gibson will be there, microphone in hand, to keep you entertained with a running commentary on the action as it unfolds. It’s going to be fast and furious once the clock starts ticking… We challenge you to miss it!

Two-day Boost for Indoor Show

19 June 2010

Total Off Road is delighted to announce that the British Indoor 4x4 Show is being expanded from one to two days.  The show, which this year moved to Staffordshire County Showground after outgrowing its old home at Donington, will therefore now be held on 19-20 March 2011 - and we're delighted that Silverline Wheels & Tyres have confirmed their continuing support as Show sponsor.

A huge off-road supermarket with a series of added attractions for all the family, the British Indoor 4x4 Show has long since become a must-go fixture in the calendar for every off-roader - whether they're into laning, playdays, competition or overland travel.  Its spring date means it's become something of a curtain raiser for the new show season, too, as vehicle builders emerge from their workshops to buy kit for their trucks, check out the latest products or just catch up with old friends.

For 2011, as well as expanding the show to two days we'll be adding various new features and attractions, and overnight camping will be available - so you'll be able to make a real weekend of it, or just choose which day suits you best.

Silverline Confirmed as Headline Sponsor

September 2009

The British Indoor 4x4 Show has a new headline sponsor for 2010, in the shape of Silverline 4x4 and Mickey Thompson Tires.

Silverline is well known to Total Off Road readers as one of the UK’s leading and most respected independent suppliers of wheels and tyres for 4x4s, whether on-road or off-road.

Peter Johns, Publisher of Total Off Road and Show Director, said:

“This is great news for the Show, which is moving from Donington to its new home at Staffordshire Showground. Following the success of past shows, we’re already close to selling all the available space in the main hall at Stafford and expanding into the connected areas within the complex, and we’re now working on new features to add entertainment for visitors.”

Chris Dawson, of Silverline 4x4 and Mickey Thompson Tires UK, said:

“We are delighted to become the headline sponsor for the British Indoor 4x4 Show. It has become a well established and important part of the 4x4 calendar, and is an important event for us to profile Mickey Thompson Tires. We think the new venue and date for the Show will mean it continues to go from strength to strength.”
