Make and Model of Vehicle: Rear Engined Land Rover Special
Description of Vehicle: The vehicle is a rear engine land rover defender. The chassis is made up of two front discovery halves giving it a 102" wheelbase. The body is a defender truck cab which has been lowered 4" and narrowed 8" making it the same width as Suzuki SJ. The vehicle has a 200tdi engine and automatic gearbox. This engine is mounted in the rear via captive engine mounts. It has a MSA bespoke roll cage to suit the narrowed and lowered body. The standard land rover suspension has been replaced with 12" king coilovers. The vehicle sits lower than a standard defender even though it runs 36" Simex tyres. The vehicle is yet to be used in events. As it is made from two chassis it will be undergoing a individual vehicle approval test in the next month meaning it will be on a Q plate.
Any interesting history/story about vehicle? I brought the vehicle half done off 'Whitbread off road' over half a year ago. He intended on using it as Safari racer but before it was finished he changed his plans and decided to sell it. Over the past months I have slowly been 'converting' it into a challenge truck. As the vehicle is neither a full on winch challenger truck or safari racer I intend on competing in the new XTC events held by the All Wheel Drive Club. I am currently only 16 years of age. I am 17 in late January and hope to have completed the vehicle and have got it past its IVA just before I get my driving licence.
