LAND ROVER DEFENDER 90 200tdi

Every piece of this truck has come to bits and gone back together, refurbed with stainless nuts and bolts. Allisport intercooler and custom stainless exhaust puts the cherry on the cake! It even has a raptor dash with a dvd player.

Vehicle Story: This vehicle is Mark Dann's daily drive. After discussing landrovers with me (Jack Fielder, age 19) one day he told me he wanted his old faithfull Land Rover re-building to last forever and perform/drive better than a new one. With my passion for Land Rovers, I jumped at the chance to build a vehicle with no compromises and no corners cut. The truck has just been completed after me working on it at Mark's farm for the past 4 months. I'm really pleased with the outcome and hope that it is the first of many such builds for me.

QT guards, steering arms, winch and winch bumper, deep modular wheels and creepy crawler tyres, QT light pod, also fitted two seperate rear seats and leather fronts, tv/reversing camera, td5 lights and more. Plus, hours of welding been done to achieve what I think is a clean, straight truck.

Vehicle Description: I bought the L200 brand new in 2009, and the modifications on the truck started straight away. The first thing was a set of 16x8 steel wheels with 265/75/16 mud terrain tyres, then a custom made winch bumper, followed by full underbody protection, custom snorkel,DBA slotted brakes eith EBC  greenstuff pads & 9" spot lights. Things to come are a custom suspension kit from OZ, Rooftent and Vortex exhaust to name a few.

Vehicle Story: The truck was meant to stay completely standard, but the 4x4 bug bit me as soon as I bought it and the modifications haven't stopped since.

100" CHALLENGE SPECIAL

Vehicle Description:  This vehicle was designed by myself and has a Land Rover 200TDi engine, gearbox and bonnet. The chassis, wings, cage (which is up to MSA speck) was all built by myself, as was the suspension which is 4 link on the back, 3 link on the front with a Panard Rod, sat on fully equiped Kam Axles, sitting on Simex 35x11.50x16 Tyres. We are running three winches, 8274s on the front and back, and a TDS Goodwich in the middle which are running 24v through 12v motors to get maximum pull out of a Twin motor Gigglepin Top Housing on the front, running UK Winch ropes.

Vehicle Story: This Vehicle started life mid-November 2011 as a pile of box section, tube and sheet metal and some very long nights - as I work full time. We started with the chassis, mounted the engine and gearbox then I set about the 4 link suspension on the back, mounted the front axle to get the desired 100" wheelbase. The fabricated the bulkhead and rollcage to MSA speck. Then I built the wings and mounted the winches on some 10mm winch brackets front and rear. Then I designed the cab interior which is basic but very functional. It's not had a full test in a winch challenge yet , but we are entered in the LRS challenge to see how she performs.

LAND ROVER SERIES 2a HYBRID

Vehicle Description: This is a Land Rover Series 2a that I've built on a Range Rover classic chassis and axles. It has a set of 30" tall cleaver pattern tyres on custom offsett steel wheels with 10 spline half shafts and 4.7:1 ratio diffs, the rear is welded until I fit a diff lock. The suspension is standard Range Rover except for +3 shocks allround and front springs on the rear giving about 3ft of articulation overall. The chassis is a Range Rover chassis shortened to 86" wheelbase. The rollcage is welded directly to the chassis through spreader plates, from that all the bodywork is built up with the rear trayback and half challeng style front end. The engine and gearbox are fairly standard 2.25 petrol engine running on LPG with a series1/2 hybrid gearbox and t box. It has a rear mounted 8 ton ramsey winch and 2 recovery points at both ends.

Vehicle Story: The Land Rover was bought for me by my dad when I was about 8 as a series 2a rolling chassis. I never used it as a competition vehicle until I turned 11, after the first 6 events it was falling apart, so we decided on a full rebuild using coil spring suspension and rangerover axles.

All entries must be received by 29th February 2012. The finalists which have been selected will then be informed via email.

Most accesories home made.

I owe my life to my Land Rover after getting hit head on by a bus in 2006 as I left work (Land Rover Solihull).  The bus mounted my bonnet and after the impact the driver of the bus picked himself up from the floor (next to the double doors) and told me he was sorry as he was looking at his radio (mobile phone). Luckily for me the police were behind him and saw/heard all he had said and done.  The bus company paid out instead of going through the insurance so with the money I decided to return the favour and save my Land Rover by rebuilding her on a galvanised chassis.

Land Rover Defender 90

We purchased the Landy back in 2009, it started life as a H reg red Defender 90 - dents, corrosion, rust etc.  Over the last two years along with my mum and dad I have restored this 90 to a gleaming mean machine.  It was front cover of Land Rover Monthly in October 2010 with the title "How One Teenager Built His Perfect 90."  I have just turned 17 and cannot wait to drive my pride and joy on the road.

I believe it is one of the first 200tdi due to its reg which is a H plate - when Land Rover started fitting the 200tdi lump in their Defenders. Original colour was Land Rover red - now it is finished in Ferrari white.
