As a new addition to this year’s show, the Engineering Department at Harper Adams University College are taking on a vehicle design challenge throughout the course of the weekend. Head of Off Road Vehicle Engineering at Harper Adams, Dr Ianto Guy said: "this year we're bringing the Engineering Design Centre with us."

A team of undergraduate students from the university will develop a virtual prototype for an off-road vehicle from their stand at the show. They won't actually get to find out the brief for the design until the first morning of the show, when it will be presented to them by Total 4x4 editor Alan Kidd. They will then work through the whole design process, from concept generation to virtual prototype, with a little help from visitors to the stand. The final design will be revealed at the end of the show.
